Obituary of Lucille Mae Davis

Avoca – Lucille Mae (McAlhaney) Davis, 95, of Avoca, died at 4:50 am on Thursday, July 02, 2015 at Richland Bean Blossom Health Care Center in Monroe Co. Born August 13, 1919 in Greene Co., she was the daughter of Eddie Glen and Jennie Odell (Hamlin) McAlhaney. She was a homemaker and had worked at RCA. She was a member of the Avoca Baptist Church where she served as a custodian for many years. She married Robert W. Davis on October 21, 1941 and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2013. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Goddard and husband, Richard, of Bloomington; two sons, Bob Davis and wife, Ann, of Bloomington and Kent Davis and wife, Melinda, of Oolitic; grandchildren, Christopher Goddard and wife, Jody, Heather Goddard, Jessi Schatzle and husband, Joshua, Nathan Davis and wife, Jennifer, Matthew and Mark Davis; great grandchildren, Justin, Brandon and Levi Goddard, Davis and Josephine Schatzle, Hudson and Helene Davis; sister-in-law, Delores McAlhaney; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Ralph and Darrel McAlhaney. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, July 6th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Joshua Schatzle officiating. Burial will follow in the Judah Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 5th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Monday, July 6th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
