Bedford-Joan E. (Knight) Turner, 72, of 591 Donica Church Road, Bedford died at 12:27 A.M. on February 6, 2010 at the home of her daughter.

Born September 5, 1937 in Bedford, IN she was the daughter of Ben and Helen (Sowder) Knight. She attended Needmore School. She married Archie V. Turner on January 31, 1953 and he preceded her in death on April 9, 2008. She retired from RCA and was a homemaker. She attended Dive Christian Church, was a member of the Dive Women’s Club the Red Hat Society. She loved to help others who had lost their husbands and take trips with the Dive Women’s Club. Her hobbies included mushroom hunting, getting her hair done, and fellowshipping.

Survivors include three daughters: Paula Nobles Fraley and her husband John of Starke, Florida, Patty Chastain and her husband Doug, and Polly Shields all of Bedford; four grandsons: Ben Nobles of Loogootee, John Paul Chastain, Isaac and Zachary Shields all of Bedford; one granddaughter: Jessica Chastain; one brother Benny Knight and his wife Linda of Smithville; brother-in-law: Roger Prince; three great grandchildren: Lauren, Braxton, and Jackson Nobles. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Archie, and one sister Judy Prince.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 10th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, February 9th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
