J. Frank Hayes

Bedford - J. Frank Hayes, 79, of 1515 18th street, Bedford, died at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Born June 24, 1930 in Oolitic, IN, Frank was the son of Tom and Myrtle (Robinson) Hayes. He married Marilyn Miller on September 1, 1951. He retired from General Motors in 1987 as a machine repairman. He was also a member of the UAW local 440. Frank was also a creative woodworker and loved working in his shop building gadgets and making repairs. His greatest pastime was making others laugh.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Marilyn of Bedford; three children, Cathy Goodin and husband Pat of Bedford, Kim Hall and husband Danny of Bedford, and J.D Hayes and wife Beth of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Natalie Buente of Louisville, KY, Shannon Spires of Bedford, IN, Justin Goodin of Camby, IN, Nathan Hall of Martinsville, IN, Lauren Simpson of Houston, TX, Baron Hall of Indianapolis, IN, Alex Crane, Wil Hayes, and Anna Hayes all of Bedford, IN; ten great-grandchildren, Mason Spires of Bedford, IN, Marilyn Buente of Louisville, KY, Max Spires of Bedford, IN, Carter Goodin of Camby, IN, Benjamin Buente of Louisville, KY, Madalyn Spires of Bedford, IN, Lucy Hall of Martinsville, IN, Ella Goodin of Camby, IN, Dylan Hall of Martinsville, IN, and Sophia Simpson of Houston, TX; and one sister, Phyllis Clawson of Delphi, IN. He was preceded in death by his three sisters, Rose Lee, Gerry Fines, and Kate Judah; and five brothers: Billy, Sam, Tommy, Don and Richard Hayes.

Funeral Information

Services for Frank Hayes will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 5th, at the Day and Carter Mortuary with Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Day and Carter Mortuary.
